Eager for more action in Pokémon TCG Pocket? Well, you’re in luck! A new expansion is slated to launch next week, bringing with it a fresh booster pack where you just might snag a Mew.
The game’s official Twitter account recently shared the exciting update. This new expansion, aptly named Mythical Island, is set to drop on Tuesday, December 17th. The TCG Pocket social media guru humorously mentioned, “I went through a lot to get this info—though, realistically, I just asked very nicely and maybe shed a tear or two.”
As you can glimpse in the trailer below, a slew of brand-new cards are making their debut. Among them, legendary Pokémon like Mew, Aerodactyl, and Celebi will be featured in the Mythical Island booster pack. This collection offers a fresh option for those collectors who’ve already amassed enough Doduos to populate a small aviary.
“The Mythical Island expansion boasts over 80 cards, including five thrilling new Pokémon ex cards, five innovative Trainer cards, and stunning, immersive designs that transport you right into the heart of the Pokémon universe,” the trailer’s description highlights.
In addition, new binder and display board covers featuring the lush landscapes of Mythical Island will be up for grabs, letting you send your Pokémon on a virtual getaway. It’s like giving your mythical creatures a little vacation – or at least pretending to, which fits perfectly with Pokémon’s quirky brand of animal husbandry. Not that we’re overthinking it!
Do Pokémon enjoy being ageless beings bound to battle in card games? It’s a question for another day. What we do know is that TCG Pocket has surpassed a whopping 60 million downloads! With numbers like that, it’s best not to rile up the masses. Besides, as one of those millions of fans, I’d end up annoying myself—and that seems a bit too existential.
So, what do you think about the upcoming Mythical Island expansion? We’d love to hear your thoughts! And while you’re here, why not check out our extensive range of TCG Pocket guides?
