The recent 1.7.19 update for "Lords of the Fallen" has just dropped, bringing a fresh set of tweaks to the game’s dash and roll mechanics for a more fluid and reactive gameplay experience. Alongside these changes, the update also delivers some notable improvements and bug fixes. This latest patch comes on the heels of the more significant 1.7 update from earlier in December, which introduced a host of fan-requested features and balance tweaks.
Despite enjoying strong sales following its release in October 2023, "Lords of the Fallen" has faced some pushback due to its steep difficulty curve and lackluster performance on PCs. Hexworks, the development team behind the game, has been consistently rolling out patches to polish and refine the experience. The 1.6 update from November, for instance, ushered in support for the PlayStation 5 Pro and introduced a more comprehensive tutorial designed to help new players get acclimated. The stream of updates continues, addressing various performance hiccups and gameplay issues in an effort to enhance the overall player experience.
Released on December 18, the 1.7.19 patch is comparatively smaller, focusing on resolving key issues that have been affecting players. Now, adventurers in Mournstead can interact with Vestiges and Umbral exit points even when enemies lurk nearby. On top of that, the team has further refined the dash and roll mechanics to offer better responsiveness, making it a bit easier for players to dodge incoming attacks. Additionally, there’s been an upgrade to the blood animation during the cutscene that follows the defeat of Pieta, a change spurred by popular demand.
Earlier in December, the sizable 1.7 update brought some much-anticipated quality-of-life improvements to the game’s sprawling open-world dark fantasy setting. Among the changes, players can now choose whether consumable items picked up during exploration are automatically added to the Quick Access bar. The developers also made adjustments to enemy attack ranges, all in the spirit of making combat fair yet sufficiently challenging. Furthermore, the tweaks to stamina depletion have made character movement more fluid both outside and inside combat scenarios, much to the delight of many players.
In a forward-looking announcement, CI Games has confirmed that a sequel to "Lords of the Fallen" is deep into production, with a tentative release planned for 2026. Internally referred to as "Project III," this sequel promises to introduce shared-progression co-op and aims to present a more commercially appealing narrative and art style. While details remain sparse, there’s hope for a full reveal sometime in 2025, stirring excitement among fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter.
