As we kick off 2025, I’m sure you’re all diving into our January spotlight game, Metro: Last Light. But it’s time to surface from those gritty metro tunnels for a bit and help us decide our next featured game for February.
Everyone loves a sequel, right? Since February is the year’s second month, we’re bringing back the popular "Two for Two" theme from 2023. It’s all about co-op games that have "two" or "2" in their title and are best played with a buddy. Last time, Gears of War 2 took the crown, leaving three worthy contenders behind. So, we’re giving those games another chance alongside a brand-new contender. Get ready to vote for "Two for Two 2!"
Overcooked! 2
Our first contender is the wildly entertaining Overcooked! 2. Released in 2018 by Ghost Town Games and Team 17 Software, this sequel took the manic kitchen antics of Overcooked! and dialed them up to deliver a multiplayer feast.
Return to the Onion Kingdom, gather your culinary crew, and dive into co-op madness, either on the couch or online with up to four players. Aprons on, everyone. It’s time to save the culinary world again!
At TA, Overcooked! 2 enjoys a solid 4.11 out of 5 ratings. While nearly 280,000 players have tasted the game, only a small fraction, fewer than 4,000, have mastered all its chaotic challenges. With 26 initial achievements, the game’s main course can be completed in about 10 hours, or dive deeper with all 54 achievements in 20-26 hours. It’s available on Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Cloud Gaming, so jump in and start cooking!
Unravel Two
Next up is Unravel Two, the enchanting puzzle platformer developed by Coldwood Interactive and published by Electronic Arts in 2018. Building on its 2016 predecessor, this sequel introduced a heartwarming co-op mode and is currently part of Xbox Game Pass via EA Play.
In Unravel Two, you create your personalized Yarny and embark on a journey of friendship, either in solo play or local co-op, forging new connections as you unravel the mysteries ahead.
This title holds a respectable 3.81 out of 5 ratings on TA, with over 148,000 players having started the game. It’s a challenging endeavor, with fewer than 400 players earning all 28 achievements due to its tricky speedrun challenges. However, it’s estimated to be completed in 25-30 hours. If you need a helping hand, check out the guided walkthrough from vSully and keep your yarn from getting tangled.
It Takes Two
Our third nominee is It Takes Two, the unique adventure from Hazelight Studios and released by Electronic Arts in 2021. Not a sequel, yet it beautifully fits the theme, bringing cooperative play to the forefront. It’s accessible via Xbox Game Pass through EA Play. Plus, a Friend’s Pass lets you share the experience, though it won’t grant achievements for the guest player.
Join Cody and May, a couple turned into dolls by a magical twist, as they navigate a whimsical world requiring teamwork to mend their fractured relationship. This story is both touching and packed with laughter.
The game boasts a stellar 4.61 out of 5 ratings and leads this month’s nominees with the highest completion rate. Of the 218,000+ players who’ve ventured into the game, about 11%—or over 24,600—have unlocked all 20 achievements, typically taking 12-15 hours.
Portal 2
Our final spot belongs to the legendary Portal 2, a sequel that stands the test of time. Launched in 2011 by Valve and published by Electronic Arts, it might already be in your game collection thanks to an offering with Games With Gold for Xbox 360.
Return to Aperture Science with Chell for more mind-bending test chambers, using portals and cunning to escape the clutches of GLaDOS. This sequel not only brings back familiar faces but introduces new allies like Wheatley and the iconic Cave Johnson, played by J.K. Simmons. Plus, the cooperative mode lets you and a friend tackle unique puzzles crafted just for two.
Portal 2 shines with an impressive 4.62/5.00 rating on TA and is the crown jewel in this lineup. Of the 272,000 players on this journey, more than 15,000 (6%) have conquered all 50 challenges. With an estimated completion time of 15-20 hours, a trusty walkthrough by N18p73pwn3r and a good co-op partner will surely help you breeze through.
