Bursting onto the scene from the wilds of Cimmeria, Conan the Barbarian makes a powerful entrance into Mortal Kombat 1 later this month, thanks to the ongoing Khaos Reigns expansion.
Inspired by the iconic 1982 film where Arnold Schwarzenegger famously portrayed the titular role, Conan comes alive in Mortal Kombat 1. While Arnold’s likeness is used, voice actor Chris Cox fills in expertly, capturing Schwarzenegger’s distinct Austrian accent convincingly—much like he did for the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11.
The swordplay showcased in Conan’s introduction is impressively smooth, exceeding expectations for Mortal Kombat games. It stands out as a highlight in the franchise’s recent animation efforts. Fans can look forward to spotting a host of Easter eggs, like Conan teaming up with a character reminiscent of Red Sonya and an Animality transformation into a Cimmerian bull—a nod to the creature Conan famously claimed to have strangled in his youth as described in Robert E. Howard’s original stories.
For those eager to jump into the action, Conan becomes available on January 21st during an early access period for Khaos Reigns expansion purchasers, and everyone else can join the fun on January 28th. Conan marks the fifth guest appearance in Mortal Kombat 1, joining the likes of Omni-Man from Invincible, DC Comics’ Peacemaker, Homelander from The Boys, and the infamous Ghostface from Scream. Fans can also look forward to the inclusion of Terminator 2’s T-1000, who is set to complete the roster in the future.
