XSEED Games, along with TooKyo Games and Media Vision, have just dropped an exciting new trailer for their upcoming game “The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy,” which is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch.
The trailer dives into introducing the diverse cast of 12 unique characters from the Special Defense Unit, whose job is to protect the school for a stretch of 100 days. Let’s meet them:
Takumi Sumino, dubbed “Everyman,” takes the lead in this tale. He’s your typical high school student from an average family. Though he can be indecisive and a bit of a pessimist, he’s fiercely protective when it counts.
Then there’s Eito Aotsuki, the “Voice of Reason.” He’s Takumi’s go-to guy, deeply caring and never shy about expressing his affection for friends, even if it sounds cheesy. Despite being frail since childhood, his sharp intellect might just be the key to navigating through the war’s chaos.
Darumi Amemiya is the “Manic Emo Dream Girl” with an affinity for the morbid and an unwavering love for dramatic death scenes – exactly what you’d expect from a fan of killing-game stories.
We have Ima Tsukumo, the “Twin – Big Brother,” who, beneath his carefree façade, harbors serious intentions to protect his sister. Anything or anyone threatening Kako won’t see mercy under his watch.
Kako Tsukumo, the “Twin – Little Sister,” might drift off into her thoughts often, but she’s curious and sharp-minded, with a passion for mystery stories and aspirations of becoming a private investigator.
Next is Kurara Oosuzuki, the “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls,” who hails from one of the wealthiest lineages ever. Beneath her haughty demeanor and the strange tomato mask lies someone who doesn’t reveal much.
Yugamu Omokage, known as the “Teenage Assassin,” has been in the business of dealing death long before the wars began. But unlike his family, he’s got a peculiar philosophy—believing killing should be done with love and indulging in some unsavory hobbies.
Kyoshika Magadori, the “Ninja Samurai,” is a traditional warrior clueless about modern niceties. Her bond with her Holy Jumonji Sword is a little too intense.
Meet Gaku Maruko, the “Self-Centered Mood Maker,” a guy who shamelessly prioritizes his own needs but can surprise you with a refreshing honesty. Once he warms up to you, he’s quite the caretaker.
Tsubasa Kawana, the “Star Mechanic,” brings a lively energy to the team. She’s a whiz with machines but handling stress isn’t her forte, often leading to some unfortunate nausea.
Then there’s Hiruko Shizuhara, our “Ice Queen.” As the head of this Special Defense Unit, she’s upfront and merciless, both in conversation and combat. Her pleasure lies in the ruthlessness of the battlefield.
Finally, Sirei, the peculiar commander of the Special Defense Unit—a curious little robot, orchestrates operations at Last Defense Academy, guiding Takumi and the team in their battle against the invaders.
Renowned creators Kazutaka Kodaka of the “Danganronpa” series and Kotaro Uchikoshi of “Zero Escape” fame have teamed up for the first time to craft the thrilling narrative of this adventure game.
The story revolves around Takumi Sumino, whose simple life at the Tokyo Residential Complex is abruptly disrupted by a mysterious threat. Thrust into chaos, Takumi discovers his extraordinary power, Hemoanima, thanks to an enigmatic being named SIREI. With this newfound ability and under SIREI’s direction, he’s sent to the Last Defense Academy, where he and 14 other students face the daunting task of defending the school against the School Invaders for 100 days, in an effort to save humanity.
Mark your calendars: “The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy” hits both retail and the Nintendo eShop on April 24, 2025, worldwide.
