Ever since Forza Horizon 5’s PS5 version was announced, it feels like Xbox games are ready to make the leap over to Sony’s gaming platform. Lately, the buzz is that Marcus Fenix and his epic battle against the Locust Horde might soon be gracing PlayStation consoles—possibly within this year. The latest word is that this will be through a collection of the first three Gears of War games, set to launch for both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.
### Gears of War Collection Set to Arrive on PS5
According to the well-connected leaker, eXtas1s, a Gears of War collection is in the pipeline. While details about the announcement are still sparse, eXtas1s suggests that it will be available on multiple platforms right from the start. Interestingly, the collection is expected to support cross-play, which means players will be able to team up or compete across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
“I can share about the Gears Collection because verifying its existence took some effort,” eXtas1s explained, as translated by ResetEra member Rychu. “It seems to exist, and I can confirm that when the Gears Collection is announced—though I don’t know exactly when—that announcement will state it’s a multiplatform launch from day one,” eXtas1s said. “When these remasters are officially revealed, they will allow cross-platform play, so players can dive in together. The only aspect I haven’t been able to verify is whether a Switch version will be available, but it will definitely be cross-platform on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard whispers about a PS5 version of Gears of War. Just earlier this month, Windows Central’s Jez Corden mentioned that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition might make its way to Sony’s console by 2025.
As with any rumors or speculation, it’s wise to approach this with some skepticism. Even though many insiders are echoing similar sentiments, the gaming industry is unpredictable, and things can change on a dime. Until there’s an official announcement, all we can do is wait with fingers crossed and hope for confirmation soon.
