Today, Fast Travel Games dropped an exciting new update for their VR shooter Action Hero (released in 2024), drawing inspiration from the beloved Superhot series. This update introduces a thrilling level with a spooky twist and an arcade game mode that’s sure to keep players on their toes.
The free update rolls out the eerie ‘Cult of Darkness’ level for all Quest headsets (from Quest 2 onwards) and brings a fresh arcade game mode exclusively to Quest 3 and 3S users.
In the Cult of Darkness level, players will navigate through a bone-chilling mission where they’ll face off against new adversaries like zombies and get their hands on brand-new weapons, according to Fast Travel Games.
Additionally, the new Arcade game mode, available on Quest 3, challenges players to rack up high scores across all the existing levels of the game. The studio has also enhanced these levels with updated visual effects (VFX) and user interface (UI) improvements, ensuring a more engaging experience.
Fast Travel Games has detailed the features arriving in this update:
6 Core Movies & 6 Director’s Cuts: Dive into a modern action adventure. Whether it’s breaking into an enemy base for a high-octane heist or exploring ancient ruins, there’s something for everyone. After you’ve experienced these, the Director’s Cut versions offer more intense and quirky challenges.
Comfortable, Cinematic Design: With stationary combat, players can focus on their movements over button mashing, complemented by slow-motion action for a stylish and dynamic gameplay experience.
Weekly Shot Challenge & More: Hone your skills for those perfect high score runs, uncover hidden collectibles, or ease into the Relaxed Mode if the heat’s too much. The Weekly Shot Challenge adds an interesting twist by merging four random acts into a single challenging movie, perfect for competitive scoring.
Debuting in December solely for the Quest, Action Hero delivers exhilarating shootouts within levels that draw from iconic film genres, all amplified by cinematic slow-motion effects.
This budget-friendly title, priced at just $20, has carved out a notable presence on the Horizon Store, earning a commendable average score of 4.7 out of 5 from around 150 user reviews.
