Marvel Rivals is turning up the heat by dropping some enticing gameplay footage for one of its newest additions, Human Torch, ahead of his February 21 arrival. Known for his fiery persona, Human Torch brings the heat with his ability to launch flames from his hands, swoop down from the skies onto foes, and construct towering walls of fire. Joining him on the same day is another fan favorite, The Thing.

NetEase Games, the masterminds behind Marvel Rivals, have unleashed this teaser just as anticipation builds for the mid-season update coming on February 21. As Season 1: Eternal Night Falls progresses, prepare to see the Fantastic Four striving to rescue a beleaguered New York City from the clutches of Dracula himself.

The update promises to shake things up, revamping character balance and possibly reshaping the competitive landscape. A fresh map set in a Dracula-dominated Central Park is also on the horizon. Players who’ve amassed a stockpile of Chrono Tokens can now convert them into invaluable Units, adding a new layer of strategy to the game.

In a recent social media reveal, Human Torch’s gameplay got its time in the spotlight. He’s not only about flaming attacks; he flies high, much like Iron Man, and manipulates fire to cripple enemies and protect allies on the battlefield with fiery barricades. Plus, his synergy with Storm gives rise to deadly fire tornadoes—a combo that’s sure to impress and terrify in equal measure.

Rumor has it that Human Torch will make his entrance with a special skin reflecting his trials in the comic’s Negative Zone—a nod to a more battle-worn version of the usually cheerful hero. When Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic joined the game, they each came with dark twist costumes: Invisible Woman as her alternate ego, Malice, and Mister Fantastic as the sinister The Maker from Marvel’s Ultimate Universe.
