Nintendo recently emphasized the vital role that exclusive games will play when they roll out the Nintendo Switch 2.
This perspective was shared in response to a query from a curious shareholder, who was eager to know whether new games for the original Nintendo Switch would keep coming after its successor debuts in stores.
“In 2025, we’ve earmarked titles like Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Metroid Prime 4: Beyond to hit the market as Nintendo Switch releases,” said Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, as he addressed the inquiry. “The Nintendo Switch still has a huge player base. Therefore, if we can craft engaging new software, our aim is to keep putting out fresh titles.”
He continued, “On the flip side, when we introduce new hardware, having exclusive games becomes essential. We’re looking at different approaches for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 to ensure we captivate as broad an audience as possible.”
Details on the next console will unfold during a Nintendo Direct event dedicated to the Nintendo Switch 2, slated to air on Wednesday, April 2, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST.
As for the Nintendo Switch 2, it’s set for a global release in 2025, although the specific launch date remains under wraps for now.
