Avowed hasn’t announced any PlayStation release plans yet, but if you’re on PC, there are mods that can make you feel like you’re there.
Given the trends, you’d expect Avowed to hit PlayStation eventually, right? Xbox head Phil Spencer frequently talks about expanding game availability across different platforms. Even Halo is reportedly making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s hard to imagine Avowed won’t land on PS5 at some point, maybe in a year. Right now, though, it’s an Xbox Series X/S and PC exclusive. That’s fine, but I’ve always had a soft spot for the PlayStation UI—it feels like home to me.
Fortunately, modders are here to bridge that gap. There’s already a mod that swaps the game’s controller interface to PlayStation buttons. So when you’re about to interact with an object, you’ll hit the square button, and for jumping, you’ll see the familiar cross button, unless you’re in a Kingdom Hearts game where things get a bit quirky. It’s a nifty little mod by NeuroticNinjah, perfect for anyone who prefers using a PlayStation controller on PC and doesn’t want mismatched button prompts.
But wait, there’s more! Another creative modder, Chachinito, has made a mod that changes the Avowed splash screen to the PlayStation Studios logo. This mod doesn’t really alter gameplay but tickles PlayStation fans on PC who might feel a twinge of envy about the Xbox exclusivity. Sometimes, a little bit of playful rivalry can be amusing.
We’ll have to see if Avowed makes it to PlayStation before any DLC or a sequel comes along. These things take time, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see it eventually make the jump.
