Riot Games has just revealed the name for their highly anticipated tradable card game: Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game. This exciting addition to their portfolio is set in the well-loved universe of Runeterra, the same world that serves as the backdrop for League of Legends and the hit series Arcane, as well as other tabletop adventures. When Riftbound hits the market, it’ll come packed with over 300 cards as part of a set titled Origins. This collection is slated for a summer release in China, with plans for a broader launch in various English-speaking territories on October 25, as detailed in Riot’s press statement.
The game offers flexibility in play styles, allowing fans to engage in 1v1 duels, team up in 2v2 matches, or dive into wild free-for-all battles. Similar to what players have experienced in the digital card game, Legend of Runeterra, champions will take center stage as pivotal cards in Riftbound. Players can craft their decks around a chosen champion, bolstered by a suite of supporting cards. Among the available options, you’ll find Champion Decks—pre-assembled sets featuring 56 cards each, spotlighting fan-favorites like Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin. Anticipate seeing familiar faces like Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, Yasuo, and others make their debut through various cards. Fans will also recognize items, runes, and spells directly from the game. Plus, the official site has given us a sneak peek at the stunning artwork for popular champions such as Kai’Sa and Ahri.
For those eager to jump into the action, players can either grab a boxed set known as Riftbound: Proving Grounds, which includes an assortment of starter decks, or opt for 14-card booster packs for additional draws. Riot has teamed up with UVS Games, a respected name in the trading card game distribution sphere, to ensure Riftbound is readily available at your local gaming outlets. If your favorite store already stocks the UniVersus Collectible Card Game—which features characters from series like Attack on Titan and Critical Role—there’s a strong chance you’ll find Riftbound on their shelves too.
