Shortly after Nintendo announced the release date for the Switch 2, they had to hit the brakes on preorders in the U.S. and Canada. The delay was all thanks to the unpredictability of Donald Trump’s tariffs. Eventually, the tariffs got pushed back beyond the Switch 2 launch, and now we have the much-anticipated news on when North American fans can jump in line, trying to outpace those pesky scalpers.
Starting April 24, 2025, you can pre-order your Nintendo Switch 2. Better yet, the prices seem to have dodged any hikes for now. The standalone console will go for $449.99, while the Switch 2 bundled with Mario Kart World will set you back $499.99.
Additionally, the pricing for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza stays consistent at launch—$79.99 and $69.99, respectively, whether you go physical or digital.
However, there’s a bit of a catch. Prices for Switch 2 accessories are getting a tweak due to what’s been vaguely termed as “changes in market conditions.” More tweaks could be on the horizon for other Nintendo products as well, depending on how the market shifts. For the latest on products and pricing, it’s best to check out Nintendo’s official site.
While it’s generally true prices can change, current economic situations in the U.S. make it more probable than ever.
Despite these hiccups, it’s a relief to finally have a date when we can try to secure a Switch 2. If you’re eligible, don’t forget to sign up at Nintendo.com for preorder access. That way, you’ll have a fighting chance against the scalpers when the rush begins next Thursday.
