Overwatch 2 has introduced a fresh mode called Stadium, and I’ve found myself hooked.
In this mode, matches can last up to seven rounds, with players competing across different styles using a limited selection of the main Overwatch roster. The twist? Each round gives you cash that you can spend on items, similar to a MOBA.
The array of items, abilities, and passives interact in ways that make Overwatch 2 feel almost like a completely different game. Plus, with third-person gameplay included, it’s a unique experience.
If you’re new to Stadium mode, you might not have the time to sift through all the Overwatch 2 Stadium perks and abilities. I’ve dug into some online "best build guides" for Moira and found them wanting. Here’s my take on Moira’s build and some tips for using it. Trust me, it’s superior.

Round 1: Cross-Orbal
[Biotic Orb] launches an additional [Biotic Orb] of the opposite type with 50% reduced capacity. -
Round 3: Multiball
[Biotic Orb] launches 2 extra orbs of the chosen type with 85% reduced effectiveness. -
Round 5: Optimal Overflow
After spending 50 [Biotic Energy], launch the last selected [Biotic Orb] with 75% reduced duration. - Round 7: Phantasm
When using [Fade], create a stationary copy of the last selected [Biotic Orb] with 50% reduced duration.
Moira is a notorious support hero, often performing like a damage dealer. Her orbs and Biotic Grasp are perfect for those who lack pro aiming skills (like me) due to their area-of-effect. On consoles, this allows for faster joystick movements without losing accuracy like you would with a hitscan hero.
Despite being a support class, this build balances offense and healing beautifully.
The strategy here is to deploy Biotic Orbs aggressively. The initial perk lets you heal while damaging, pressuring enemies. As you progress, you unlock more orbs to use for healing or causing significant damage. This build excels in maps with tight spaces, though you can still obliterate squishy DPS and support heroes by launching a barrage of orbs and then fading out for an extra impact.
The right items make this build even more formidable, boosting ability power and extending orb range.

Nano Cola
+20% Ability Power. Boosts your Orb damage and healing, which is essential for Moira. -
Smart Orbs
+5% Ability Power, [Biotic Orb] moves 50% slower while healing or dealing damage. While helpful for tracking, use cautiously if aiming across maps. -
Extendrils
+10% Ability Power, +30% [Biotic Orb] Tendril Range. Greater range means more impactful orbs. -
Champion’s Kit
+40% Ability Power. It’s costly but stacking this can massively increase power over long matches. - Liquid Nitrogen
+25 Health, +10% Ability Power, slows enemy move speed by 20% for 3 seconds with ability damage. Paired with Smart Orbs, it can keep attackers at bay, though a nerf may be imminent.
The focus here is on enhancing Moira’s ability power, your main source of damage and healing. While the items above are crucial, you can customize further to suit your style.
After unlocking Moira’s multiball abilities, the goal is to target vulnerable foes and hit them relentlessly. Smart Orbs slow the orbs’ movement when engaging or healing, making them perfect for plucking characters like Mercy out of the air. They follow you, aiding any allies you’re supporting while you deal with threats. If you have the funds, add Liquid Nitrogen to Smart Orbs for a slowing effect on enemies, making their day considerably tougher. This is likely to be balanced in future updates.
By stacking as many Ability +% items as possible, you enhance both damage and healing throughout the match, with Moira’s ultimate becoming incredibly potent. Launch a barrage of orbs with your ultimate, and you can demolish entire teams.
Overwatch 2 Stadium is Surprisingly Awesome
Between rounds, the armory offers a variety of powers and items to choose from.
Stadium Mode in Overwatch 2 is the most fun I’ve had in some time. It builds on existing perk systems and offers customization once promised in the now-canceled Story Mode.
Balancing might take a while, with some heroes feeling stronger than others, but the potential is undeniable. Overwatch 2 continues to engage fans, even nearly a decade in.
Stadium Mode is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC.
