Renowned for their handheld consoles, Ayaneo is stirring excitement once again with the announcement of their latest flagship device, the Ayaneo 3. This new entry is set to build on the success of its predecessor, maintaining a familiar shape and button layout while introducing some exciting hardware upgrades.
In a recent blog update from Ayaneo, potential buyers are presented with the option of choosing between two powerful processors for the Ayaneo 3: the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U or the even more impressive AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. Accompanying these choices is a captivating seven-inch LCD or OLED HDR display that promises a high-refresh rate for an immersive gaming experience. In addition, Ayaneo has added two new buttons to the back of the console, enhancing the range of control options available to users.
As of now, further details on the Ayaneo 3 remain scarce, including aspects such as RAM, storage capacity, and pricing. When looking back at the Ayaneo 2, it was offered in configurations of either 16GB or 32GB of RAM, with storage options of 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB. Pricing for the Ayaneo 2 started at $1,099, stretching up to $1,549 for the limited-edition B.Duck model. Given this context, it’s reasonable to expect the Ayaneo 3 to follow suit, perhaps with a slight price increase.
This device also marks a milestone, being one of the pioneering handheld consoles to utilize the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. While most current games don’t yet harness the NPU within the HX 370, the presence of four additional cores, the sophisticated Zen 5 architecture, and the AMD Radeon 890M integrated GPU provide it with an edge, making it potentially more powerful than many leading PC gaming handhelds that typically utilize the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
Despite its promising specs, the Ayaneo 3 is entering a competitive scene. As it launches, potential rivals like the ROG Ally 2, MSI Claw 8 AI+, and Lenovo Legion Go Gen Two are anticipated to debut before the year’s end or the start of 2025. It will be intriguing to see how the Ayaneo 3 will set itself apart and what unique experiences it will bring to handheld console gaming enthusiasts.
