Schell Games and Innersloth have some exciting news for Among Us enthusiasts: the introduction of flatscreen support for Among Us VR, initially released in 2022. This upgrade will facilitate crossplay between VR and PC gamers, broadening the multiplayer experience significantly.
In another refreshing twist, the developers are renaming the VR rendition to Among Us 3D. This change introduces a first-person perspective for PC players, marking a new chapter for those who have been yearning for an immersive PC experience.
According to Schell Games, Among Us 3D will enable seamless shared gaming spaces, allowing PC players to dive into cross-platform lobbies with VR users, regardless of whether they’re using Quest, SteamVR, PSVR2, or Pico headsets. However, it’s important to note that Among Us 3D won’t be compatible with the original 2D version of Among Us from 2018, a decision that’s been consistent since Among Us VR’s debut in November 2022.
Ryan Hall, Project Director at Schell Games, expressed his enthusiasm: “With Among Us 3D, we’re thrilled to offer the first-person experience to a much larger crowd. Blurring the lines between VR and PC gamers means more opportunities for those delightfully sneaky betrayals. It’s a great chance for your entire crew to dive into the chaos!”
The transformation to Among Us 3D is set to roll out gradually over the upcoming months. Players can expect updates in places like store listings, webpages, and within the game branding itself.
But that’s not all! Among Us 3D will introduce ‘Stardust’, a new in-game currency. Players will be able to use Stardust to snag cosmetic items, a move that aims to bolster the game’s growth and give players more personalization options.
While there’s no official release date for this new edition yet, fans eager to get a taste of Among Us 3D might not have to wait long. The game will make a special appearance at Steam Next Fest, offering an exclusive demo before the full launch. Keep your eyes peeled, as adventure awaits!
