Kluge Interactive, the creative force behind the acclaimed VR rhythm game Synth Riders (2019), is gearing up to launch its latest endeavor, FINAL FURY. This much-anticipated VR fighting game will be available next month in early access for both Quest and SteamVR headsets.
Arriving on May 8th for Quest 2 and higher, as well as PC VR, Final Fury promises to revitalize the classic 1v1 fighting game experience for VR. It boasts an innovative gesture-based gameplay system that is sure to engage players looking for that immersive arcade-style thrill.
Incorporating insights from nine-time EVO champion Justin Wong, the game blends hand gestures with real-world room-scale movement. Players will have the chance to step into the roles of six unique fighters, each with their own moves and battle arenas. And there’s more to come, with additional content planned after launch.
Reflecting on his collaboration with Kluge Interactive, Wong shared his enthusiasm: “When I was approached about FINAL FURY, I was fascinated by their goal of bringing traditional fighting game mechanics into a first-person VR setting. After testing and giving feedback on features like dashes and grabs, I’m eager to see how players react when it hits Early Access.”
Here’s what players can expect when the game launches:
You are the Fighter! – Dive into fully immersive VR combat, throwing real punches, dodging, and blocking.
Innovative VR Combat – Experience a fresh take on beloved fighter mechanics tailored for physical gameplay.
Expanding Roster – Start with six fighters, each with distinct skills, arenas, and styles, with more on the way.
Arcade Mode Unlocks – Challenge the AI to unlock new fighters, stages, and cosmetic enhancements.
Online Multiplayer – Enjoy smooth, competitive play with cross-platform support and rollback netcode.
Pulse-Pounding OST – Get energized with an original soundtrack by Zardonic, known for his work on SUPERHOT: MCD.
You can now add Final Fury to your wishlist on the Horizon Store for Quest 2 and above or on Steam for PC VR headsets. Set to release on May 8th at $9.99, it’s a launch that’s sure to pack a punch!
