Yesterday, Bigscreen began taking orders for its next-generation Beyond 2 PC VR headset. Thanks to a cutting-edge pancake lens design, this new iteration promises enhanced field-of-view and sharpness. Excitingly, in just ten hours from the start of the sales, Beyond 2 has already outpaced its predecessor, the original Beyond, by a huge margin.
In a series of social media updates, Bigscreen shared the impressive reception Beyond 2 has received from VR enthusiasts. Just 25 minutes into the launch, Beyond 2 sales surpassed the entire first day sales of Beyond 1. Within the next hour, they had doubled their launch day sales for the original model. Bigscreen couldn’t contain their excitement.
As the clock ticked on, more updates followed, particularly highlighting the success of the Beyond 2 and its eye-tracking variant, Beyond 2e. The latest figures were pretty jaw-dropping. “Within 10 hours of launch,” Bigscreen announced, “Beyond 2 has sold more units than in the first four months of Beyond 1 sales.”
Fast forward to now, and shipments for Beyond 2 and 2e are projected for June 2025, which means the initial April and May batches have already been snapped up.
What’s driving this enthusiasm for Beyond 2? While you can dive into the specifics elsewhere, one compelling reason might be Bigscreen’s seamless upgrade path. Owners of Beyond 1 can snag one at marked-down prices—$849 for Beyond 2 and $1,049 for Beyond 2e. Plus, it retains compatibility with many Beyond 1 accessories, such as the custom facial interface crucial for initial users.
Beyond 2 introduces a fresh pancake lens design, delivering an expansive 116-degree diagonal FOV, an adjustable IPD mechanism, and a lighter 107g build. The 2e ups the ante with AI-powered eye-tracking. Consistent with its origins, it still sports the dual 1-inch 2,560 × 2,560 micro-OLED displays of the original Beyond. However, the new lenses provide significantly improved clarity and FOV.
Pricing for the Beyond 2 and 2e sits at $1,019 and $1,219, respectively, with discounts available for loyal Beyond 1 users. Accompanying the headset is a new halo-style mount and a Lightblocker facial interface, expected to roll out in Q3 2025.
