Yorutouge is an intriguing dive into a vibrant, psychedelic world brought to life in VRChat, where Vocaloid beats pulse through the virtual floor. Born from the creative partnership with Vocaloid songwriter and producer Kikuo, Yorutouge stands as a mesmerizing 20-minute escapade through an electrifying public VRChat realm. The creators at VR_SMEJ envisioned it as a refreshing escape, a bright spot for those needing a boost from the foggy or weighty moments of life. As they put it, the aim was to craft a “manic stopping point” for all who journey here.
At the recent NewImages Festival 2025, I had the chance to experience Yorutouge firsthand as part of the XR Market showcase. Competing in the XR Competition alongside 13 other cutting-edge immersive projects, it stood out as a unique experience. With four other explorers by my side, my journey began in an enchanting cave that quickly transitioned into a striking surreal adventure – a DJ-led, audiovisual spectacle with Kikuo front and center.
What truly captivated me was how the visuals seamlessly enveloped the entire space, elevating the event well beyond a typical disco experience. It’s important to note, however, that those susceptible to epilepsy might need to steer clear due to these intense displays. The song selection pulsated with energy, each track woven perfectly into Kikuo’s curated vibe. Each environment was crafted with such creativity that it constantly left me wondering what new wonder awaited around the corner.
