Recently, Halo Studios announced an exciting new addition to Halo Infinite: the Seek and Deploy Extraction mode. This eagerly anticipated game mode is set to shake things up by aiming to capture the essence of tactical shooters, bringing a fresh challenge to fans and players.
Despite launching over three years ago, Halo Infinite isn’t slowing down. Initially, the game faced criticism from fans, especially due to the absence of classic modes like Forge. However, thanks to the dedicated support from 343 Industries, now transitioning into Halo Studios, the game has evolved remarkably. It has introduced unique experiences, such as the third-person mode introduced last year, which took the community by surprise. Now, Halo Infinite is looking to make its mark on the tactical shooter genre as well.
In a detailed post on Halo Waypoint, Halo Studios officially unveiled Seek and Deploy Extraction. This exciting mode is structured as a single-life, round-based 4v4 game where teams alternate between attacking and defending Extraction Sites. Drawing clear inspiration from popular titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, and Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy, Seek and Deploy Extraction offers its own Halo-inspired take on these themes. This mode also promises fast-paced action with a best-of-11 format, making each match a race against time.
One of the significant features of Seek and Deploy Extraction is its economy system. Players will commence each match with Bandit Evo and can earn credits through kills and successful Extractions. These credits will allow players to purchase weapons, grenades, and equipment for the rounds ahead, strategically managing their arsenal without overpowering opponents right from the start. Although it won’t be available immediately, Halo Studios has teased that the mode is slated to arrive “later this year,” hinting at exciting prospects for Halo fans as they look forward to 2025.
The question remains whether the Halo Infinite community will embrace the tactical shooter gameplay style. With giants like Counter-Strike 2 and Valorant dominating, not to mention the enduring popularity of Call of Duty’s Search and Destroy, Halo Infinite faces stiff competition. These established staples challenge Halo Infinite to carve out its niche. And let’s not forget Fortnite’s Ballistic mode, which didn’t quite hit the mark as expected. With such diverse offerings in the genre, Halo Infinite will need to truly stand out to win over this crowd.
