There’s a pesky bug in “Indiana Jones and the Last Circle” that’s throwing a wrench in the works for players trying to finish off the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle achievements. Despite MachineGames releasing this stellar Xbox action-adventure game over six weeks ago, this major issue has been blocking players from moving forward.
## Fixing the Indiana Jones and The Great Circle: The Blessed Pearl Bug
Players are hitting a brick wall with a bug during the “The Blessed Pearl” mission in “Indiana Jones and The Great Circle.” This glitch, if encountered, prevents Indiana from climbing ladders, scaling vines, or squeezing through tight spaces. It’s a real setback that MachineGames is said to be aware of.
Last year, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle really stood out as a top game for me, but this bug during the “The Blessed Pearl” mission on Sukhothai has brought my progress to a screeching halt. It seems a lot of other players are stuck in the same boat.
This odd bug stops our favorite archaeologist from maneuvering through ladders and tight gaps, particularly problematic on the Sukhothai level. In one segment of “The Blessed Pearl,” you’re required to navigate through a narrow cave gap to proceed. Unfortunately, this area is isolated from the rest of Sukhothai, meaning you can’t return to the game’s open area. Even if you try fast travel, the bug persists, trapping Indy in his inability to climb or squeeze through necessary spaces.
It’s incredibly frustrating, and I’ve had to set the game aside until MachineGames comes up with a solution. Although they’ve provided a rollback option to revert your save file, two out of my three saves are infected by this issue, and loading the third would mean wiping out hours of progress, like all the time I spent collecting goodies in the underbelly of Vatican City.
Over on Reddit, a post mentions that MachineGames has acknowledged this bug, linking it to the character Sunan and perhaps the “Lost in the Past” side quest. The caveat is that after finishing fieldwork and giving the golden hook to Sunan, there’s a crucial, but easy-to-miss prompt to speak with Sunan one last time. If you hit that prompt, Indy retains his skills to climb and crawl. Miss it, and you’re likely stuck in “The Blessed Pearl” with nowhere to go.
If you’ve faced this bug but are fortunate enough to have a save file you can revert without losing too much progress, you might visit Sunan to wrap up “Lost in the Past” correctly. If you’re less lucky, like me, you’re waiting for MachineGames to release a patch.
Since its release, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been out for six weeks, and aside from this showstopper bug, there are other glitches needing attention too. Many players are struggling with radio frequencies for Gina, the cog wheel puzzle, and other collectibles. While I get that the holiday season might’ve slowed down MachineGames’ patching process, I genuinely hope they push an update soon. I’m itching to dive back into the game.
