Sanzaru Games, the creative minds behind the Asgard’s Wrath series, have just rolled out the last content update for the Quest-exclusive Asgard’s Wrath 2, released in 2023. With that, the team is hinting at moving on to something exciting and new.
According to reports from MIXED, Sanzaru has launched the final major update for Asgard’s Wrath 2, a sequel to their original Asgard’s Wrath game that captured attention as an exclusive title for the Rift back in 2019.
Their concluding event, dubbed ‘The Long Winter,’ began last week, bringing with it a fresh lineup of time-restricted challenges. Players can dive in to earn points and unlock some unique in-game cosmetics. This title, which came out in late 2023 for Quest 2 and newer devices, offers a robust 60 hours of campaign gameplay—not counting the time players spend tackling the monthly Cosmic Events.
Addressing the community on Discord, the game’s Community Manager shared, “This will be our last major title update for Asgard’s Wrath 2. Moving forward, you’ll see fewer updates, focusing primarily on resolving significant issues and bugs. We want to be clear: there won’t be any further development for new content. We understand the community is eager for more, and we wanted to communicate this decision transparently.”
Looking ahead, Sanzaru teased that they are now channeling their energy into something “AWESOME,” eager to unveil their next project to their loyal followers when the time is right.
While specifics about their next venture remain under wraps, the studio’s path changed direction following their acquisition by Meta (then Facebook) in 2020. This shift had them focusing exclusively on titles for Meta’s line of XR headsets. After successfully delivering two expansive and highly-polished RPG entries, it’s clear Sanzaru has honed their skills in this genre, making their upcoming projects highly anticipated by fans and followers alike.
