Minisforum has recently pulled back the curtain on its upcoming array of AMD Ryzen-powered devices, spotlighting a fresh addition to their lineup: a MoTD and Mini PC, both equipped with the powerful Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range” CPU.
### New Additions to the Minisforum Family: AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX “Fire Range”
At this year’s “Japan IT Spring Week,” Minisforum introduced a slew of cutting-edge devices that utilize AMD Ryzen CPUs. The highlights of their showcase included MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, compact Mini PCs, and NAS systems, all set to provide users with robust performance.
#### Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard: A Desktop Builder’s Dream
First in the spotlight is the Minisforum “F1FGM,” extending the MoTD series by incorporating the latest CPU technology. Designed in an mATX format, this motherboard is equipped with efficient heatsinks spread across the VRMs, M.2 slots, PCH, and includes an IO cover. Succeeding the BD770i and BD790i series, which featured Dragon Range “Ryzen 7000HX” CPUs, this board now boasts the Fire Range “Ryzen 9000HX” series CPUs.
This particular MoTD variant can be powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, packing 16 cores and 32 threads built on Zen 5 architecture. It ramps up to a 5.4 GHz boost clock speed and includes a hefty 64 MB L3 cache. By default, it’s set at 55W, but desktops can push this “mobile” chip up to 160W, ensuring high-end performance for demanding users.
Additionally, the board offers alternative CPU configurations, including an “X3D” option. For thermal management, a cooler is secured atop a vapor chamber baseplate, as these mobile CPUs lack an IHS. The VRM setup is a solid 13-phase Duet rail design utilizing 60A SPS power stages.
As for its features, you’ve got four DDR5 UDIMM slots, allowing up to 256 GB of memory, and they support impressive speeds nearing 8000. The chipset resembles the mobile-grade X870M, akin to the B850 series. With two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 and 4.0 x16) and three M.2 slots—one accommodating Gen5x4 speeds—plus dual SATA III ports and advanced IO, including USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7, you’re well covered. Debugging is aided by two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
#### Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC: Compact Yet Powerful
The MS-A2 Mini PC also harnesses the power of the AMD Ryzen 9000HX “Fire Range” CPUs, building upon the MS-A1 series that featured Ryzen 8000G CPUs. These mini PCs are equipped with advanced IO solutions, complete with three M.2 slots (one convertible to U.2), a 10 GbE LAN accessible via an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot ready to host a low-profile card.
Distinct from the MoTD motherboard, this mini PC features two SO-DIMM slots supporting up to 96 GB of memory and speeds reaching 5200 MT/s. The IO connectivity includes two USB 3.2 Gen Type-C ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a USB 2.0 port, dual 10 GbE LAN ports, along with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0, and both DP and HDMI outputs.
#### Minisforum N5 PRO: Strix Power for NAS Enthusiasts
Lastly, the Minisforum “N5 PRO” NAS enters the stage, boasting the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU with 12 cores, 24 threads, and a Radeon 890M iGPU. This NAS is equipped with five 3.5-inch bays, allowing for RAID configuration, and offers a toolless design for easy drive modifications. With a capacity of up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot, users can integrate a video interface solution with ease.
Each bay accommodates up to 22 TB of HDD, with three additional PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots available (two Gen4x1 and one Gen4x2). The interface rounds off with a 10 GbE and a 5 GbE Ethernet port, accompanied by three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports for additional connectivity.
Minisforum plans to release these innovative solutions in the forthcoming months. Stay tuned as further details emerge.
