Capcom has officially announced that their much-anticipated action RPG, Monster Hunter Wilds, set to release on February 28, 2025, will have enhancements for the PS5 Pro right from launch day. While they haven’t gone into detail about what these enhancements entail, they did reveal some exciting information on the game’s graphics and resolution targets for consoles.
In the buildup to this launch, Capcom shared that the standard PS5 edition of Monster Hunter Wilds will offer two distinct modes: ‘Prioritize Graphics’ and ‘Prioritize Framerate’. Opting for the graphics mode will deliver visuals at resolutions of 3840 x 2160 and 3072 x 1728 at 30 frames per second. Meanwhile, choosing the framerate option will provide a seamless 3840 x 2160 and 1920 x 1080 resolution at a smooth 60 frames per second.
Through social media updates, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), Capcom acknowledged that they have been fine-tuning the game’s performance since the Open Beta Test, ensuring that the launch will be as polished as possible. They’ve actively worked on improving rendering issues that were flagged during the beta phase.
The open beta for Monster Hunter Wilds stirred some worries regarding its performance, especially those related to the PC version. Capcom has had past difficulties, notably with Dragon’s Dogma 2, where they faced challenges in optimizing the game for PS5, and the PS5 Pro upgrade didn’t quite hit the mark. Fortunately, Capcom’s early work on the PS5 Pro patch for Monster Hunter Wilds signals that these concerns are being addressed, giving developers enough time to iron out any kinks before the game hits the market.
