If you’re both a pinball enthusiast and a Dungeons & Dragons devotee, you might find yourself intrigued by a new pinball machine that looks amazing, albeit with a jaw-dropping price tag.
I’ve always held a deep appreciation for pinball machines. They might be old-school games from another era, but they’ve endured, evolving into more elaborate setups over time. Frankly, I’d love to own one myself—not having to constantly feed them quarters sounds appealing! But buying a top-tier machine, especially one like the newly unveiled Dungeons & Dragons model, involves shelling out quite a hefty amount. This machine, which you can check out in the video below, is brought to you by Stern Pinball, known as the largest pinball game producer worldwide, and it’s nothing short of impressive.
This pinball creation is an official collaboration with Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast, marking Dungeons & Dragons’ 50th anniversary. It promises an “epic and thrilling journey” through the forgotten realms. Players will encounter iconic adversaries like the red dragon, gelatinous cube, and Xanathar the beholder, along with memorable locations such as Arabel and Westgate in Faerûn. Notable figures like Critical Role’s Matthew Mercer, Laura Bailey, and Marisha Ray lend their voices, alongside Luke Gygax, the son of D&D co-creator Gary Gygax.
The standout among the voice cast, however, has to be Gerard Way. Yes, that Gerard Way from My Chemical Romance! I can’t quite pinpoint why he’s involved, but it’s certainly a cool tidbit to share if you happen to purchase one. Speaking of which, buying this machine will likely remain a dream for most of us, given the price.
The Pro edition kicks off at a steep $7,000. If you’re after the Premium version, you’re looking at $9,700. The Limited Edition, limited to just 740 units, will set you back an eye-watering $13,000. It’s undeniably a fantastic piece of pinball art, but I think I’ll have to pass on this one for now.
