You read that right. The PlayStation Network (PSN) is experiencing a major outage at the moment. If you’re on a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, unfortunately, you won’t be able to access any online features right now. So, that gaming session you had planned? It’s going to have to wait.
As of the latest update, the only word from Sony is coming from their Ask PlayStation Japan Twitter account. They’ve issued a statement, which I’ve translated through Twitter’s handy translation tool.
The message reads: “Currently, the PlayStation™ Network (this includes the PlayStation® Store) might be unavailable. We deeply regret any inconvenience this has caused to our valued customers. Rest assured, we’re investigating the issue and working hard to get things back up and running, so we ask for your patience.”
In simpler terms, Sony is on it, but there’s no update yet on when they’re going to resolve it. So, all we can do for now is sit tight and hope they sort it out soon. It’s quite a bummer that this is happening over the weekend. With the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta in full swing, it’s a real downer for PlayStation fans who can only sit back and watch while Xbox and PC players dive right in. Even if you’re not testing out Wilds, it’s still the weekend. This is prime playtime, especially for those juggling work and gaming. Fingers crossed, the PSN will be back online very soon.
