We’ve been eagerly anticipating news about the Switch 2 preorders in the United States, and after a couple of weeks of discussions around tariffs, we finally have an update!
Nintendo released a statement today confirming that you can start preordering the Switch 2 on Thursday, April 24. The pricing hasn’t changed, with the standalone system selling for $449.99 and the system with a digital copy of Mario Kart World at $499.99.
However, it’s worth noting that some accessory prices are seeing a bump. Because of the ever-changing market conditions, Nintendo has increased the MSRP for the Switch 2 Pro Controller to $84.99 and a pair of Switch 2 Joy-Cons to $94.99, both seeing a $5 increase. If you’re looking to grab a second dock set, that will now cost you $119.99, which is $10 more than before. Joy-Con straps have gone up by $1, costing $13.99 now, while other accessories also see a $5 hike. The detailed pricing for these and for games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza can be found in the accompanying images.
While preorders in Canada are expected to begin around the same time, a confirmation may not come through today because of a national holiday. Nevertheless, Nintendo of Canada assures us that the date and pricing up north will mirror the U.S. details.
