There’s been a surge of projects where fans try to bring elements from different Fallout games into new scenarios. The latest twist involves bringing Fallout New Vegas into The Sims 2, a combination that actually makes a surprising amount of sense. Introducing The Sims 2: New Vegas, a fan-made “remaster,” proving how brilliant creativity can blossom when dedicated Fallout enthusiasts take on a fun challenge.
This intriguing project, still a work-in-progress, has its own subreddit that TheGamer recently highlighted. Spearheaded by Baron Pulitzer, also known as FalloutPropMaster, this ambitious fan even runs an independent film production company during his day job. For about a week now, he’s been meticulously sharing updates on his progress.
In his introduction, he explained, “I got tired of waiting for a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas. My goal is to craft a remaster that not only revisits classic elements but also includes some of the content cut from the original beta version of Fallout: New Vegas.”
He further elaborated, “I stumbled upon a few casino models on ModTheSims uploaded by a user named ‘lilipad,’ which sparked my inspiration to try replicating New Vegas in The Sims 2. Although I’ve modded Fallout 3 and New Vegas before, this was my first foray into modding The Sims, so I saw it as an opportunity to learn.”
Over the last week, Baron has dived back into software he hadn’t used in over a decade, like Milkshape, FOMM, Blender, and Nifscope. Reconnecting with these tools has been both a nostalgic dive and a refreshing way to spend his free time.
So far, he’s mapped out his plans for the Mojave Wasteland neighborhood which will include fan favorites like The Strip and Freeside. He’s also recreated iconic locations, such as Goodsprings’ Prospector Saloon, which is pretty much where you’d expect to kick off a project like this.
On the character front, we’ve caught a glimpse of Vulpes Inculta, that ever-popular Legion character, casually hanging out with ghouls and indulging in a fun game of kickball. There’s also a household featuring some much-loved companions, presumably bonding over tales of a certain postman who uses them as human shields while retreating to administer numerous stimpaks.
Recently added are some exciting elements, like a revamped version of The Sims 2 interface, infused with a classic Fallout aesthetic that adds an authentic touch.
For anyone relishing a nostalgic return to The Sims 2 through the Legacy Collection remaster, and pining for another adventure through the Mojave as an opportunistic wanderer who’s tempted to devour Mr. House, get embroiled in a Caesar salad mix-up, and eventually opt for an independent Vegas, this is definitely a project to keep tabs on.
