Variety has revealed that a film adaptation of the newly-released game Split Fiction is in the works. Story Kitchen, the team responsible for assembling the cast, writers, and director, is at the helm of this exciting project. You might remember them from their work on adapting Hazelight’s earlier game, It Takes Two, which is currently being developed by Amazon. They’re also behind adaptations of ToeJam & Earl, Slime Rancher, and Vampire Survivors.
It seems Hollywood can’t get enough, as offers from several major studios are pouring in.
Split Fiction made its debut in March and took the gaming world by storm, selling a million copies in just 48 hours. Within a week, that number had doubled to two million.
The team at Hazelight shared their excitement on Bluesky, stating, “Holy crap, we’re blown away! Simply amazing.” They went on to thank both new and returning fans for their overwhelming enthusiasm about the game.
In other exciting news from the Hazelight universe, It Takes Two has quite the star power on its side for its film adaptation. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is involved, and the writing is being handled by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the minds behind Sonic the Hedgehog.
