According to the latest update, NVIDIA’s board partners have been informed of a delay affecting the launch timeline for the RTX 5060 series GPUs. Originally anticipated to hit the market soon, these new cards will now be arriving a few weeks later than initially expected.
Right before the anticipated release of the GeForce RTX 5070, rumors started swirling about the delays with the RTX 5060 lineup. We initially thought these GPUs would debut in March, with availability in April. However, new information suggests the release has been postponed even further.
The reasons behind the delay aren’t entirely clear. But, Board Channels have confirmed that NVIDIA has communicated this change to all its board partners. While this isn’t an official announcement, it’s quite probable, given that NVIDIA hasn’t provided any concrete release details for the RTX 5060 yet. Earlier whispers suggested bugs or supply chain issues might have played a part in the delay, but this hasn’t been corroborated by NVIDIA.
According to a statement from Board Channels, NVIDIA emailed internal AIC partners to notify them about the delay in the launch of the RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 products. They indicated that the RTX 5060 Ti 16G and 8G variants might now see a release in mid-April. Meanwhile, the RTX 5060 series has been tentatively pushed to mid-May. Though these dates aren’t set in stone, they’re the current expected timelines until further notice from NVIDIA.
As it stands, the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is set to debut around ‘mid-April,’ with the RTX 5060 following a month later in ‘mid-May.’ Interestingly, it seems both variants of the RTX 5060 Ti will be launching simultaneously. However, NVIDIA hasn’t locked in specific launch dates even for its partners.
This delay could mean the RTX 5060 series might launch around the same time as AMD’s upcoming RX 9060 series GPUs. The RX 9060 lineup, which includes the RX 9060 XT and RX 9060 cards, offers 8 GB and 16 GB variants—posing a direct challenge to the 8 GB and 16 GB RTX 5060 Ti models. While we don’t have exact launch dates for AMD’s RX 9060 series, rumors suggest they aim to release in the second quarter as well.
The GeForce RTX 5060 Ti is poised to be NVIDIA’s next step up from the RTX 4060 Ti, featuring 4608 CUDA Cores, 8/16 GB GDDR7 VRAM, and a TDP of 180W. On the other hand, the RTX 5060, replacing the RTX 4060, brings 3840 CUDA Cores, 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM, and a 150W TDP. Interestingly, a recent leak suggested a 12 GB variant for the RTX 5060, though it remains unofficial at this point. If true, it could offer a competitive edge over the RX 9060’s expected 8 GB variant.
