Silent North, the much-anticipated VR zombie survival game, has just launched in early access alpha on Quest and Steam today, courtesy of the folks at Ghosts of Tabor studio. Combat Waffle Studios, known for their work on Ghosts of Tabor and GRIM, is behind its development, with Beyond Frames Entertainment stepping in as the publisher. This fresh PvPvE VR experience transports players to the treacherous Alps, challenging them to brave not only the winter’s biting cold but also the relentless zombie onslaught. As you navigate these snow-covered landscapes, your mission is clear: scavenge whatever resources you can while defending yourself against infected foes and other survivors.
In this unforgiving setting, survival demands attentive management of essentials such as food and warmth. Scouring the deserted villages for supplies can make all the difference. There’s also an option to form alliances with fellow players, and the game’s dynamic day-night cycle adds layers of strategy—using night as a cover for stealthy maneuvers or taking advantage of daylight to keep enemies within sight.
This release marks an exciting follow-up to last month’s early access alpha rollout for GRIM, a multiplayer survival sandbox with Rust-like elements. Developed in collaboration with Spoonfed Interactive and Combat Waffle Studios, GRIM places players in a harsh world where survival is a fierce scramble for scant resources, amidst the fallout from a failed Mars colonization attempt. Today, GRIM graduates to its beta phase, enriched by numerous updates since launch.
So if you’re ready to dive into Silent North’s wintery world of survival, jump on Quest or Steam for the alpha version that’s available now. And here’s an interesting tidbit: This announcement originally hit the press on February 21, 2025, but after a slight delay, the game finally made its debut on April 8, 2025.
