Developer-publisher Radhood has unveiled that Synth Beasts, an RPG reminiscent of Pokémon with monster-taming elements, is on its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. This highly anticipated game will also be available on the current Switch, PC, and both PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
Synth Beasts offers a fresh twist on the familiar Pokémon formula by incorporating real-time combat, transforming it into an action RPG. The Swiss-based studio Radhood first introduced this intriguing title to the public back in May 2023.
News of Synth Beasts coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 emerged just a day after the console’s official reveal. Radhood has pegged the release of this monster-taming adventure for the second quarter of 2025, previewed through a new trailer that combines familiar and brand-new gameplay footage.
Synth Beasts Will Be Available On All Major Consoles and PC
Beside making its debut on Nintendo’s forthcoming console, Synth Beasts is set to launch on an impressive array of platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, the latter being confirmed since 2023. You can already wishlist the game on Steam, though Radhood’s pages on other platforms are still in the works. To involve the community in shaping the final phase of development, a Kickstarter campaign is slated for the first quarter of 2025.
As for what players can expect, Synth Beasts promises a sprawling open-world experience brimming with action-filled combat and exploration. At launch, the game will feature around 40 creatures, each equipped with unique abilities designed to aid the player in traversing the game’s environment. Success with the Kickstarter could potentially herald the arrival of additional monsters. Moreover, completing the game once unlocks a randomizer feature aimed at offering endless replayability.
Nintendo Switch 2 Already Has Multiple Confirmed Indie RPGs
Interestingly, Synth Beasts isn’t the only indie RPG announced for the Nintendo Switch 2—Bestiario, a game reminiscent of Persona, was the first indie RPG confirmed for the console. While Synth Beasts eyes a Q2 2025 release, Bestiario looks to be aiming for a late 2026 launch. The Switch 2 itself remains without an official release date, but Nintendo has laid out preview events through to early June 2025, indicating that the console won’t be available before then.
The gaming community eagerly awaits the Nintendo Switch 2, invigorating the landscape with a mix of new titles ready to leverage its potential. With a guaranteed backwards compatibility with previous Switch games, this new console is shaping up to be a must-have for gaming aficionados everywhere. A full reveal is expected on April 2, 2025, setting the stage for a new era of gaming innovation.
