WWE 2K25 is set to release without the inclusion of Brock Lesnar, marking a significant shift since the powerhouse has been a regular feature in the series from WWE ’12 onward. This latest installment continues to excite with its extensive roster, boasting a lineup that blends legendary figures with current fan favorites. However, it’s inevitable that not every wrestler could make the cut.
In this year’s version, around 30 characters from WWE 2K24 won’t appear. Some are missing due to transitions to WWE’s rival AEW, others because they’ve parted ways with WWE, and there are other unspecified reasons for certain absences.
It’s confirmed that Brock Lesnar won’t be part of WWE 2K25, a noticeable change since he has been consistently signed on for each main WWE game installment since WWE ’12. Lesnar even graced the cover of WWE 2K17 in his prime. Yet, as surprising as his omission might seem at first, fans familiar with Lesnar’s recent situation might have anticipated this.
Brock has been conspicuously absent from WWE television since SummerSlam 2023 following a defeat to Cody Rhodes. His removal from the WWE 2K25 roster aligns with the fallout from a lawsuit filed by former WWE staff member Janel Grant. The suit claims that Vince McMahon allegedly offered Lesnar inappropriate proposals during contract discussions. Following these allegations, Lesnar was swiftly pulled from WWE’s video game narratives and programming. Despite his absence, he remains under contract with WWE.
Back in January 2024, those allegations caused Lesnar to be excluded from the Royal Rumble, and his role in WWE 2K24 was considerably trimmed down. No longer on the cover, Lesnar was only accessible in the game’s Showcase Mode. With WWE 2K25, the cycle breaks, as for the first time in over a decade, Lesnar is entirely excluded from the game’s offering.
Additionally, Shane McMahon’s own decade-long streak with WWE titles, beginning from 2015’s WWE 2K16, will also be ending with the upcoming release. WWE 2K25 is slated to go live this March, carrying with it some bold changes and an evolving roster narrative in the world of virtual wrestling entertainment.
